We have received the following information a couple of times  (maybe you have also) and thought we’d pass it along:

Last week it was Frostbike 2014 at Quality Bicycle Parts in Bloomington and next week its Parks and Trails Day on the Hill in St. Paul. The bike community has a lot on its plate each year at this time. Each year in March, the bike and hike communities gather at the State Capitol to hear the latest news from the folks at the Parks and Trail Council of Minnesota and take the opportunity to meet with constituent legislators to advocate for new trails or improvements/extensions to existing trails throughout the state.

The 2014 edition of Parks and Trails Day is Tuesday, March 4. Folks from the Northfield/Dundas/Faribault/Owatonna/Cannon Falls area can participate individually or by joining the group that will travel to St. Paul on a Northfield Lines Bus, departing the Quarterback Club in Northfield at 7am.

Here’s the Plan:

A 31 passenger Northfield Lines (deluxe) mini-coach  will depart from Northfield’s Quarterback Club (4th Street and Highway 3) at 7:00 am sharp on Tuesday March 4, and return there at 4:10 pm  (plenty of parking is available there – please park as far west on the lot as possible; coffee and treats are available at the Quarterback starting at 6 am). The coach will depart promptly at 7 am and en route to Saint Paul will stop at Little Oscar’s on Highway 52 and County Road 47/ Northfield Blvd (at approximately 7:25 am) where Rochester-area trail supporters of the Mill Towns Trail and SMART- Southern Minnesota Area Regional Trail project are invited to join our group.

Round-trip coach transportation (if there are 31 passengers) is $23 per person. Seating is limited to 31.  Registration for Parks and Trails Day is $15 per person.

Please consider taking part in this important annual lobbying push – as we talk with legislators about the importance of trail and park funding for our region and the State. To take part in our bus trip, RSVP to Mark Thacher <mthacher@deskmedia.com> by Wednesday February 27 and Register for Parks and Trails Day at  https://www.parksandtrails.org/2014_DayonHill.  (if you don’t want to ride in the bus, no worries – carpools are welcome – but let mark know that you are participating so that we can look for you once there).

Spread the word – and encourage your friends to Get on the Bus for Parks and Trails!
and be part of our 2014 Minnesota Parks and Trails Day on the Hill.
